Good for a Laugh
I thought we could all use a good laugh today. Via Gawker, here is a baby product made by a company who might want to rethink their marketing photos.
I have no idea if this is a valuable product. It very well may be. But the image is a little disturbing, no?

Argh, why doesn’t this die already?
The Peekaru is a fantastic product for wearing over a sling, wrap, mei tai, or Bjorn-alike. I use mine in the spring and fall when it’s too chilly to go coatless, but too hot for a full coat. We’re very cute in ours. That picture is weird, and I would imagine that 99% of users don’t wear theirs that way, but GAH, hasn’t this already been done to DEATH on every single other blog?

my favorite comment from Gawker: “Ten bucks says that kid’s name is “Brlagdyn” or one of those horrible trendy made up names..”

Wow, I haven’t seen this before! I agree, they may want to rethink their marketing photos.

Haven’t seen it yet, and yeah, it made me laugh.

It doesn’t die because the world doesn’t view websites simultaneously so there are still lots of people who haven’t seen it yet, and because it’s such a stupid photo that’s just begging for it. I agree, Jan, it’s old news to a lot of us, but I’m not surprised it’s still going around.
I don’t see a need for it, personally. My daughter and I love our mei tai, but I wear a light jacket when it’s too hot for a full coat. There’s never a time when I want to warm my middle and not my arms, but maybe I’m weird that way. If other people enjoy theirs, then I’m glad it exists for them and they can use it.

I agree, it is a terrible photo of a wonderful product. It is great to be able to babywear and be warm at the same time

The most disturbing thing I discover, though, is the mother on the first pic carrying her baby with his back to her stomach. => Extremely bad for the baby’s hips, back and (if applicable) testicles.
Otherwise, the whole thing looks quite funny. Shame my two are too old for that by now. (2,5 and 4 years)
